For many years, it had been the dream of Dwight Addison, Chief Financial Officer and owner, to start his own health care agency. “I’ve worked at home care agencies for a long time and saw what worked and what didn’t,” says Dwight Addison.

In the fall of 2005, Dwight and Linda Richardson, President and owner of Advocate Hospice, met through a mutual friend and discovered they shared the same dedication and core values. “Both Linda and I felt that we could create an agency that could do it better,” says Dwight.

After a few meetings, they decided to collaborate and begin what would become Advocate Hospice. They pooled their own resources and added their final partner, Greg Horton, and the journey began.

In Spring, 2006, Advocate Hospice was launched by completing its Indiana State Department of Health licensure survey for Medicare and Medicaid certification with a deficiency free report.
